St Andrews Beach Residence

The Brief
To make a refurb for a growing family utilising a tired, small workspace to make more liveable, functional and flexible for a growing family.

DV Design Outcome
The refurbishment of a St Andrews Beach residence on the Mornington Peninsula, led to a lighter and brighter interior. Working with a generous budget the complete kitchen design allowed for high end finishes such as a honed marble backsplash and combination bench tops with solid blackwood prep area. Working with a limited area the concept worked to achieve the best workable room. The pantry design created good storage without compromising bench space through a series of deep drawers and overheads. The internal works focused on fine detailing including satin 2 pak finished cabinets with chrome fixtures and tapware, over both sink and stove. The colour palette was restrained and simple with warm whites and greys. The final colour selection highlighted the unique veins of the marble stone which was one of the kitchens visual highlights. A simple design solution was also used for the bathroom and living space. Clever use of sky lighting was employed to regulate the thermal and lighting qualities of the home. Wet areas were rearranged with the bathroom and laundry swapping to make the best use of the available space. The end result provided a bigger bathroom, a better use of laundry space, improved floor space, storage and bench room whilst successfully fulfilling the design elements of the client brief.
